THREE HUNDRED SEVENTEEN

SONG OF THE DAY #317
Thursday, March 31, 2011
Shortly Before the End
by OK GO

This song is for the Assembly, at which the King was sentenced to 15 years in prison without the need to renounce the Bourbon line or his alliance to the Pope, and for the resulting news bulletin, when we found out that the King was whacked by one of Susan's lackeys. Dead and gone. The rest of the afternoon was spent talking to everyone on fb about the crazy assembly, and watching the west wing.

MIDNIGHT BONUS TRACK:
The Heart of Life (Live)
by John Mayer

In the evening I became disappointed with my poor, unknowing sister, and went to clear the frustration one block up, where I taught myself to bike with my hands behind my back.
I came back and worked on my wrap report until around 5 A.M., at which point I finished up and knocked out by 5:30.

This is a rare live recording of The Heart of Life by John Mayer. It's strangely the only version of the song I can relate to. All the others I've heard, even the one that appears in Where the Light Is, comes across as too processed for some reason... This one is perfect. It's essential.

TRECIENTOS DIECISÉIS

CANCIÓN DEL DÍA #316
miércoles 30 de marzo de 2011
Leave Your Boyfriends Behind

Thrills
by Cake

Woke up at 11:30, an hour before Reacting, two hours after Myth, and half an hour after my doctor's appt. My habits disappoint me sometimes. Went to class for the King's trial, where Octavio and the rest of them laid shit down. The defense was solid, but the King was found guilty over a measly 28 votes. It was nuts. Came home, wrote something up about my character, then ate and went back to school at 5:30 to meet up with Sam and company, talking to Mileini about my plans on the way, for some fro-yo. Bitches got some drama going on. Came back home, watched Castle, then wasted away slowly on the computer, doing nothing particularly productive. Need to finish my wrap report tomorrow before 1, meaning that right after class I have to sit somewhere around campus and get to working on it. Wish me luck. Also, I'm going for Door #2. Choosing any other route would just be foolish. Any closer and I'll start hearing Joan Armatrading everywhere I go. And I love Joan, but I can't let her kill me again.

See the Sun
The Kooks

This morning I refused to go to sleep, and instead stayed up watching Hellboy until almost 4 in the morning. I woke up a few hours later for school at 9, on the way to which I rediscovered The Kooks. I've had a fun ride with The Kooks over the years, at one point loving it all, and then not having any of it, and then starting all over again... The current status on me vs. The Kooks is this: (putting the fact that their music has come at me in meaningful waves throughout the course of our relationship, further discussed soon) once you get past feeling silly for loving and relating to pretentious Brit kids with guitars, and when you learn to love the strange arrangement of B-sides that composes their catalog, you discover some kind of truth you never thought you could find in Brighton.

...I got to Ecology at 9:12 and was not the latest one, then went to the Environmental Studies office for packet on the on-campus preserve after class with Onstead.
Went home, cleaned, and then aimlessly lingered about on the computer until I left for school again, at 4, to meet with some reacting kids. Stayed until 7:30, then came home, ate a sandwich, watched an episode of Scrubs and went to sleep an hour later. Got up at 11, watched Tales From the Script, and went back to bed at 1:30. The next list I'm making is the "Great films come in twos" concept.
Goodnight, moon.

I Want You Back
by Jackson 5

Today... I didn't feel lazy today. I felt like doing something, but was stuck in the house one way or another. It was interesting. Got up at 12:30, updated the Sound some (it now feels archival because of how many unfinished posts I have to recall and record), started a project I feel really great about, watched a DCOM for the first time in a very long time. Avalon High it's called, and it was (actually pretty awesome despite its) pure cheese. Lol they could have easily avoided unnecessary one-liners and spared the audience some embarrassing chuckles. Like I said, though, because of its interesting premise and awesome medieval beach shots, I forgive the jokes and the acting. It's Disney Channel. They only do things right about 40% of the time. The Ititos came over, and I ate a lot of pumpkin bread. Those two don't directly correlate, I just felt like including them in the same sentence. Also, I booked my trips (which means I handed them off to my travel agent [which means my Mom is planning them]...)! And, finally, I got back to the Sound and updated some more. It's become a habit of doing this on my newfound days off. Nite; it's 12.

THREE HUNDRED TWELVE

SONG OF THE DAY #312
Saturday, March 26th, 2011
Be Here Now
by Ray LaMontagne

Woke up half an hour after I was scheduled to be at Best Buy, for the first time in about a month. Got to work, got written up, talked to Capote, and got to work. Helped Victor out until around 11:30, then went over to DI to sell some wonderful cameras. Everything is new in the department. Things change too quickly in the business of retail technology. It makes me feel even more lost than being gone a month. Left work at 4:20. Got home, had some disappointing conversations, and was told, once again, that my shit habits need to change. Owning up to your character flaws takes a toll on me, and it happens every few weeks. After each time, I always switch into Iris and Jasper mode, and then do nothing about it. Maybe this time will be different. I just need to get a job I actually value again, so my planets can align and I can feel somewhat fulfilled again. Happiness is in the mind, which proves problematic for me. You see, aimless internet audience and/or future Robert, I'm out of my mind. There isn't one aspect of my life right now that's in total harmony. I can't feel enthusiasm. I'm turning completely numb, and if Tony Bennett doesn't stop playing in my head soon, I'm afraid it'll progressively get worse. Robert needs a break from Music of the Mellow Genre, and needs to feel Matt and Kim again. What's today's song? I don't give a fuh..

ALTERNATIVE SONG OF THE DAY
Rill Rill
by Sleigh Bells

...And then I went to the Fair with my family, slightly bitter but riding everything with my little cuz Stephanie. Being 11 is awesome. I rode today everything I didn't get to ride yesterday. Namely el teleférico, las cillas voladoras, the big blue roller coaster, and the carousel, along with some other stuff, too. Rill Rill could've been the song of the night; it makes me think of what you see there: thousands of lights and tons of people walking around. It's a great carousel song, for use only when the world thrusts you about in wonder.

The Way You Look Tonight
by Tony Bennett

With a morning filled with sleep and an afternoon of Urban Ecology, I'm keeping it mellow with today's song. I sat on my bed for about 7 hours writing my paper for EcoUrbo on green roofing. When I realized that the two pages of starting point I submitted about 3 weeks ago were total garbage, I decided to strip it bare and start anew. As soon as I finished, I took a shower, refreshed and got dressed. It's 8 PM at this point, and I'm headed to the Fair. I thought about a few things on the way, had a sort-of prom flashback that turned into a daydream, and thought about The Girl wearing a corsage. She'd look so beautiful it made me want to sigh, and sing to her. The Way You Look Tonight, with no music, right there in her parents' living room. Piano played in my head for the rest of the night, including inappropriately, on the Himalayas and Ferris Wheel. At the Fair were Sam, Jaife, Oscar, Chris, Andrew, Izzy, and Mileini. Got lost by one of the Crazy Mice, until Mileini came to pick me up at the entrance. I took her to the Real Crazy Mouse, Mega Drop, Pizza place, and Pirate Funhouse, where I'd climbed atop a soda machine to see everyone, who were on the othe side of the fair completely. Rode a few things with Mileini, and talked to the gang about lame things we find interesting. They started closing everything at 1, when Mileini and I walked to the front of the Fair to wait for everyone, still on the upside down ride I cleverly evaded. Had a moment with an ESE teacher, piano playing, and looked after the child next to me, who adorably, incessantly, pointed out everything she wanted from the gift shop in front of us. We walked back to Sam's dorm, and at around 2:30, we headed home. Saw the girls to their car, still in blue, and got on bike and rode to Archie. Put this song on, and drove the slowest I've ever driven, back home. It's 3:34. Beach tomorrow? Says Wendy... Eso veremos.
Goodnight, moon.

SONG OF THE DAY #310

Bizness
by tUnE-yArDs

with Midnight Deep Track:

I'll Be Seeing You
by Billie Holiday

Woke up at around 10 to head to reacting at 12. Stopped at tb for the first time this year, and felt crummy after eating what used to be my usual 5-layer burrito. Maybe I flushed out fast food already? It's just not the same anymore. So crummy, in fact, that I bought a taco with it and I had to give it away to someone in reacting. In class was the slaves' play and the Salon of 1791. Got a haircut for a second, and then headed home to freshen up and chill out for a bit. Danette invited me to Paragon at 5, for Rowbear's sendoff/the MIFF volunteer screening of Rango at the lounge. Got to Lani, Vicky, and the rest of the crew on time and stayed for the first few minutes of the movie, at which point Danette, Andres and Roberto went outside for a quick drink break to kill time before having to go to a museum exhibit and drop the guys off-- we talked about my future, about films, about schools, and about everything in between (including programming codec and Johnny Depp's "good roles"). Broke off and headed home, stopping before at Vision Works for a quick visit. Jenny's still married, and the place is still the same, for the most part. Coming home I ate fet Alfredo with my parents, and came to the computer to research the green roof project a little more. Caught the latter end of American Idol-- the most crazy one so far (the guy almost fainted when they used the judges' save!)-- and then got lazy, decided I wasn't writing anymore, and put on my friendly neighborhood Netflix DVD. Bernardo Bertolucci's Stealing Beauty with Liv Tyler. Oh, Lord. Oh, Lord, thank you for making such a graceful, beautiful girl. Thank you for making Liv Tyler.

Romeo & Juliet
by Dire Straits

Today was a regular day filled with the opposite of productivity. I was supposed to have written half my paper, so that tomorrow I'd have the other half to finish. Instead, I woke up far after Urban Eco had ended. At 2 I wet to pick up Jessie and took a trip to FIU to drop off some money orders, a bunch of forms, and a copy of mon passport. Outside of the house, her name is now Michelle. Doubled back to ECC to pick mom up together, and then headed back the other way to Itita's to pick up some food. ¡Espagueti con picadillo, chica!
When I got home and ate, Mileini called me back to school for an Aesthetics and Values opening at the Frost. Until about 6 we were there, at which point the girls bailed and I came back home. Before 9 I knocked out on the couch, and woke up at 2:30. Wrote this, drank a ton of water-- ¡Agüita fría, chica!-- and went to bed. The opening was nice, and so was the company, but I should've written my shit. Ahora mañana me queda una tonelada de cosas pa' hacer. No no no, vaya. No acabo de aprender.

by Feist

Feist is back. This morning I got up at 10:30 after a late night. A reminder let me know I had half an hour to get clean, clothed and in the car, to be at my checkup appointment at 11. When I got there they said I didn't have an actual appointment, to which I replied: WTF, I made it yesterday. Got in, got checked, I'm working. Went to grab an adapter for reacting, and then went to class. It got crazy. We passed education, after which they actually arrested the king. Wha-- ok...? Tabled Article 2 and argued over Melanie Gros instead. Took some time at the atrium to eat an expensive bagel sandwich and talk to everyone. Les Justes, Melanie, Sam, Andrew, Kirk, Kharla, and Jaife were there, y así pasamos el tiempo hasta las 3:30, cuando nos fuimos pa'l museo. A&V Honors Hour, and some Frost time with Mileini and the lunch people. Trang was there, too. After that was the orientation for CSA 11 from 5 to 7, and after that was coming home to watch Castle and check emails. Saw some excitement about Guerrilla Film Project, and looked at pictures from the festival. Hipster kitty came up, and from then on I showed ma what urbandictionary.com was, and looked up hipster so she would understand. Talked to Jaife for a while, and at around midnight, when the weight came down, I headed out to help the other me. Got back at around 2:30, and thought of Feist. I just saw a Bon Iver cover of this track last night, and it's been subliminally stuck in there. Today, incidentally, was The Park.

Mambo Parisienne
by Henry Mancini

Woke up very late. 2:30, around there. Supposed to go to Itita's for Lunch, but stayed home watching the last 2 episodes of Skins instead. In the interim, I seared myself while making a sandwich. Now, there's a phalange on my left hand pointer finger that will never be the same. Everyone got home at around 5:30, at which point I took it upon myself to get clean. En esto, me demoré. Al salir, Dad had on ENTN and then American Idol after that. Mom gets home from Target, I put on Charade, Dad falls asleep, Mom surprisingly doesn't, and it's as frickin' fantastic as I remember. After that, everyone decided to go to sleep, and I pour some more cereal and put on Scrubs. 2 episodes from Season 2 is enough, at which point I start ridiculously arranging my foavorite movies list, for the hundredth time. This time, though, I know how to use excel. Oooh.. saucy. Score some cool music from SXSW and go to sleep. It is 2 AM. Happy Monday.

Little Motel
by Modest Mouse

Woke up early to give the people coming to see the house at 12 a chance to see both my room and the bathroom neatly made. All day I did nothing but watch an episode of Skins and download and listen to people's souls being spilled in ink. These lyrics are incredibly terrifying. David Gray, Bright Eyes, Elliot Smith, Colin Hay, City & Colour-- they all have something inherently powerful to bring to the table, and it makes me want to go out and look up at the sky and believe in Life as much as it scares the crap out of me that people could actually feel this way, and that I have, too. I spent the day, while doing the aforementioned, updating The Sound. These festival days are killing me... I left most of them blank.

If you're ever incredibly heartbroken or incredibly in love, and you want to feel like you have a kindred spirit in songwriters, listen to these. But mind you, this is not to be taken lightly. To attest such strong emotions may cause you to fall out of, or even deeper in love.

Anyway, putting a serious note aside, I had a great time just simplistically talking to my parents in the backyard. Corny, but they know so much about life. Maybe it was just an introspectve day. Yeah, it was a very, very introspective day. It was also Mileini's Mom's birthday, and so I wrapped up a bottle of white wine and made a Salsa mix and headed over.

Brothers, endless conversation, excellent family members, mamá no tiene modestia, salsa lesson, funny quote from my youth, Jaques Tati. And sometimes I wish this was a private journal.

Caveat: This song, I just realized, is a repeat from a couple hundred days ago. Just go with it.

by Two Door Cinema Club

Yesterday was supposed to be a beach day in the morning... HA HA HA. I got up at around 1, got to work at around 2:30 only to discover that everyone had the day off! Habíamos tres en la oficina, la de la prensa, el voluntario yo. Y aún así fui el último en irme. I took the time to make a bajillion copies to add to my super secret screener library that no one knows about. Muahaha! Got out of work at 7 something, at which point a part of my family, which was headed to the beach, came to pick me up to walk around Ocean Dr. and Lincoln Road. I took them through Venetian Way with Diliana's C-Pass and got to drive back to downtown to pick up my car. Drove mum crazy on the road! Not funny. Got to Itita's for some depression on the rocks and then bolted home, watched two Skinses while talking to Mileini and went to bed. This is a Midnight Deep Track, provided by the one and only - the chick that brought you Rock Kills Kid - the Sound's Solo Music Correspondent. Get the jam here.

Foolish
by Ra Ra Riot

Got up, went to get some bloodwork done. It was a success. I had to go all the way to Ponce, because my local Redbird Quest Diagnostics was closed, but it worked. Ripped the band-aid off to Boy by RRR in the car on the way to pick up some Arroz Frito @ El Rinconcito. Jessie was unnecessarily annoying the entire day thereafter. Don't ask me why. Got home with my take-out and decided to finish cutting the grass and doing some other house fixins before eating, to stop Pops from taking over. Ate, then fixed my room somewhat, and ended up watching yet another ep of Skins. To celebrate St. Paddy's I holla'd at Adrian while watching doing this, and caught wind of his plans... Headed out at around 8 to Itita's and left a few hours later to go out with Mileini and Jaife to Miracle Mile for the huge road block concert/night of debauchery they had across a few avenues. Learned some more French (I can count to 10 correctly now!) walking to the mile from Mileini's. TONS of people dressed in Green! Wtf...
Met up with Grace and Wendy and hung out for about 45 seconds, then ended up in the alley of "The Bar," where I ran into a few people. A Best Buy manager, an old co-worker, and my cousin's best friend. Called Yve and met up with her a few blocks away, at a closed restaurant by Spy World. We left a little while later, at around 11:30, and headed back to Mileini's, where we took NPH to a friend's house. Got home at around 3. Had fun on a surprisingly clean St. Patrick's Day.

Foolish came into play in the last couple hours of the day, when I had an unusual realization that was probably only pasajero. Pensive night. It was sitting in the car in front of my house at 2:30 AM that I played out my entire day in Super 16mm with no audio overlay, and realized the song worked.

by The Broken Family Band

Got up at 9:30, went to buy Sarussis and went off to work for our final wrap meeting. It was pretty incredibly sad to hear everyone's goodbyes, thanks, and critiques. Pretty damn crazy, thinking this is the end of an era. Came home at around 5 and watched Skins all day, finishing Series 1. Moved on to the "Original Songs" episode of Glee, and then watched the Series 2 premiere of Skins. Everything else was pretty normal. Talked to Ana, talked to Mileini, and forgot to email Tivi.

I couldn't find an audio-only version of this song, but there's this cool video (which apparently blew up in South America).

Go Your Own Way
by Fleetwood Mac

Got up and slummed it for a while. Mami y Papi salieron a hacer mandados y me dejaron a la Jessie. Itito came con Luís while I was in the shower, y salí listo precisamente cuando llegaban de regreso. [Mileini, ¿no sabías que este era un blog bilingüe?] I headed out to MIFF HQ, now back at MDC, at around 1. Got there @ 2:15. It was a strange feeling, seeing everyone make final changes and pack up in slight. MIFF 11 kind of changed my life, and now everyone's starting new chapters in theirs. It's very probable that I was the one most affected person out of all of us coming out of this. I was the newest to the film world, and now I have to deal with the fact that what I used to settle for in terms of doing something with my time isn't going to be the standard anymore. I can't just sit around slumming it at Best Buy after having done the festival. Like it or not my mind already started moving on to the next big thing, and honestly, I don't really have a clear picture of what it is. Got my yearbook signed by the rest of the staff; now I'm only missing Marketing and Jaie. Wednesday's the wrap party. Wednesday's the wrap party.
Dropped Elena off at the Airport, 2nd time. Vivian's B-Day, Annie's kids, more chocolate, Craig's goodbye. Copied a ton of screeners and brought them home, hung out with Andres and Sarah after everyone left the office. Literally everyone was in the programming office-- well, except for Maria, the special projects lady. That SLUTTT~ hahah
G-ddammit, I'll never forget this.
Came home and left to pick up J-Dawg with Mami y Papi [Mileini, ¿no sabías que mis padres se llaman así?] and hung out with baby Ashley-- the most incredibly adorable creature on the face of the earth. Mileini refuses to procreate. Eh, what are you gonna do? Came home, finally, and watched an episode of Skins. Things settled in, and I put on the Orphanage.
Me-¿Quieres ver una pelicula que produjo mi amiga Elena?
Dad-Dale, a ver...
20 minutes later.
Dad-Está intrigosa esta película...
20 minutes later.
Dad-Hace RATO hubiece salido de esa casa. ¡Nombre no!
20 minutes later.
Dad-¡Ay, cojones!
The severity of this progressed throughout the rest of the film. La verdad es que estaba de a cojón... Talking to Anita while watching it, hehe. Oh, and one last thing: a facebook message made my heart explode into T-Pain. "You minx," I thought to myself, as a giddy smile appeared on my face.

The time changed last night, and today I was supposed to be at the Royal Palm Hotel at nine. That did not happen. Nine and a half hours later, when I actually woke up, I felt great! I ate breakfast, I watched SNL, and I had genuine silence for a few hours. Just genuine silence and rest after a week and a half of the complete opposite was fantastic. I'm a bum, but I like it. He he... I walked around the house all day, nappin' with my dog and shiz, and watching SNL. Whene everyone got home, I went to my room to finish watching In a Better World, and then I brought out Garden State to have a moment. It was great again! Then I had a frustrating conversation and went to sleep. The end.

FESTIVAL DAY THREE

RPH Desk Duty from 9 to 1 today; so tired from last night that I drove home, napped on the couch to SoulStage featuring India.Arie, and went back to work at 5. At the RPH in the AM I met Julio Hernández Cordón, director of Marimbas. Walked him through the check-in process, but forgot to tell him to meet me for the introduction. Told him to meet me in the lobby at 6 for the shuttle to the Gusman-- the Susanne Bier tribute he'd wanted to go see. It was 6:20 and Julio is nowhere to be found. Finally, after going back and forth to see Elena with Sebastián Hiriart from A Tiro de Piedra-- and being asked for weed-- I finally got in contact with Julio, who was still in his room. Told him the tribute shuttle had left, and that Elena and Sebastián were waiting for him at Happy Hour to hang out until his screening. Warned Elena "not a minute after 9:00," and left for the Gusman. Met Oscar with some kind of plede buddy/date, and sat to watch some of In A Better World before heading back to the Royal Palm at around 8:30. It's 9:20 and Julio isn't in the lobby. Finally he gets in, runs to the room to get his tickets, and we get in his friend's Jeep and drive to the Regal. Parking: $20. Making it to a screening with minutes to spare: Priceless. Tech check good, friend cool. Eventually I introduce the film, after which I go outside with the microphone (that has YET TO BE TURNED OFF! HAHA) to ask Julio what he's planning. I give him my festval number and send him on his way. Jose comes running out of the theater to grab the microphone and turn it off. "It was on." I melt. Julio has disappeared. It's my first introduction and my job is to stay with the director. Thirty seconds later, I second-guess myself and literally run out of the theater to look for Julio to say "Look, I'm coming. Deal with it." I never found him, thank god. Instead, though, I found Andres, who was meandering the streets of Miami Beach. This chance encounter is my first festival miracle. We talked for a bit, about The Last Circus, babysitting Directors, and Serbians, who apparently drink until sunrise, and he convinced me that letting Julio go was a good idea. "He knows when to come back. He does this for a living. Plus, he's been in Miami before. He will not get lost. Just take it easy. Go watch the film. Have good time." I sigh and sit to watch the film. Julio comes back on schedule, I translate for the Q&A, and then we head over to the (818) party, at what felt like a gay club. After about a minute and a half, I bolt. Everyone else stays. I walk back to the Royal Palm from Washington and 13th or something, get on my bike, head over to the 21st lot, and go home. Tomorrow there's a class I won't be going to.

FESTIVAL DAY TWO

Today was crazy. So crazy, in fact, that I'm writing this on my down time at RPH the next morning. Woke up early and got to RPH at 9. At around 10, Danette calls me to pick up the Producers and Cast of 50 Cent's film Things Fall Apart. WHAT?! Jesus, ok. Went over there and while waiting with them to go to the Betsey, experienced my first Hollywood Douchebags moment (standoffish executive producers who belittle interns and think they own the city, producers who are habitually late to their own press conferences, producer's wife, who is only in the film because she's the producer's wife, and producer's mother, who is so incredibly over-indulgent that you can tell she's become accustomed to the luxuries of the biz). Got to te press conference with the crew, and it was a success. 50 got there, too, albeit raspando con tiempo. The thing went off without a hitch. Took the car back to the Royal Palm at around 12:30, and I was scheduled to leave at 1. Basically my shift was done. I can't remember what I did after that, but at 4:30 I got on my bike and went to see You Are Here at the Regal, liaised by Diliana and introduced by Andres. The Premiere of Things Fall Apart was later at night at the Gusman. It was the night of the first emergency. Danette asked me to head over there just in case it rained, to be ready with a back-up planand to help with reserved seating. I did both of these and stayed to watch the film up in the balcony with Lani. After the screening, hell broke loose. After the Q&A, Tim the assistant and I had to find Danette and ask her what the hell was going on with Transportation, seeing as our cars were missing and no one answers their phone. Met everyone backstage only to discover that the cars were still not in place. When they finally got there, the festival team got in one of the SUVs with Randall and the rest of the behind the scenes gang, and Mario and his SO got inside the next one. Little did the second driver know, the director wasn't the only one scheduled to ride in that car. He left me qith half the cast on the sidewalk, waiting for a car that would come almost ten minutes later-- it was the same car that decided to double back. The rest of the cast got in and on their way, and Rachel, who also went to grab her car, took the rest of the entourage back to the beach. I was supposed to go see The Last Circus with Andres and Jaife at midnight, but no. Things Fell Apart instead. At 12:30 I met Jaife by MDC, who had been waiting since before midnight. We missed the film, and pulled a hangout instead. Talked about jumping in pools, the moon, and other things I can't remember. Just being in a car with Jaife at that point, and my festival phone being off, was all I needed. Got home pretty late, and hit the sheets right away. It was the second day, and it was ridiculous.

FESTIVAL DAY ONE

TODAY was the first day at the Royal Palm Hotel. I got up late because of last night, and went to work. 1-5 at the checkin desk, followed by the official opening of the Festival with Chico & Rita at the Gusman. Van ride over to the Freedom Tower for the Opening Night party. Free everything and a live band. Got to know some people a whole lot better. Drunken coworkers are fun as hell. Now it's 1 AM, and I'm hitting the sheets. I have to be back at RPH in 8 hours, which means I have to leave the house in 7, which in turn means that I have to wake up in 5 1/2.

On the way to the Festival, Roberto gave me some "words of wisdom" that sounded more like "words of douchery," followed by a very cynical action. Gives me crap about being late and then gets down to smoke a cigarette in front of the Gusman - the venue I supposedly made him late to. GARGH!

Music-wise it was Iron & Wine en route everywhere until after the party, at which point it was salsímbiri completo.

Spent some time on the bike to and from the RPH and the lot, and dropping off Van Peebles' welcome packet at the W hotel.

Bhang Bhang, I'm A Burnout
by Dum Dum Girls

Went to both classes / talked to Angela and Baker in one, and had the craziest, loudest assembly in the other. Came home, ate BK, hardly held it down, went to Itita's and took some cookies, had a fight with my fasha. Basically told him he can talk to me when he knows what the hell he's talking about. Went out to get Adrian at FIU. Spent some time at his friend's dorm, then rode over to Publix for milk and then Shell for 32 oz Thursdays. Stopped by his house, said wasaa, then came home to eat and say Jessie wasaa. Put gas and went downtown. Show at Grand Central; Psychic Mirrors is the greatest underground band I've ever heard. Old school funk meets new-school synth pop. It was a strange cross between Gladys Knight and Passion Pit, mixed with Yeasayer and Earth, Wind & Fire, and it was fantastic.
Headed to Kendall for some hangout with Adrian's burnout friends, and then drove the guy home and did the same for myself. Straight to the sheets at 4AM. Get the jam here.

Billie Holiday Genius morning
Mysterious stop-by of Itito
Went to work, worked on Welcome packets and ticket stuffing for Filmmakers and Programmers
Got out supah late, home at around 9
Ate, watched about 6.6 minutes of American Idol and Matt Damon's bit on Ellen, and then got to planing my schedule for the festival week. I have been missing too much class, and it's not looking like the upcoming week will change that.
It's 12:32 and I haven't prepared for reacting tomorrow. Class in 8 hours and I NEED TO GO. The Force is going to HAVE to be with me on this one, and subsequently for the rest of the week.

Opus 23
by Dustin O'Halloran

Rush to work to get the Skedge finished on time
40min late to meeting, barely got there with Diliana helping
Candle rush for a vigil that never happened
The Adjustment Bureau w/Jaife
nerves throughout the movie
posters, validation, take to car, drive home
cheeky music on the way home, ie. Aretha, Stevie, and Corinne
Robert needs therapy
scared for life on roof
threats of family breakdown
"These Words" started following me and I heard their music, direct from Bristol, England. Also with Mitchell Museum.
I'm scared. Just as I thought one problem was being resolved, the Chairman threw me a curveball. G-D damn chairman. I'll get you for this.
