Caring Is Creepy
by The Shins

History Belongs to the Music

Historic Events of the Sound, Vol. 1

Just before midnight I discovered Adele is releasing a new album, and I snuck around on the internet and found two singles online. I'm sorry to say this overshadows the entire day's events. It no longer matters that I was listening to the Black Keys today, or that I spent the afternoon writing my film log and commenting on Melanie's pictures online, something I haven't generally done in almost a year. It no longer matters that I played a Shins record, or that today's song of the day was going to be Caring Is Creepy. Of course I'll include this for continuity, but nothing else matters, because Ladies and Gentlemen...

Adele is back.

Hysteric
by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

#2 in this week's stuck in my head playlist.. First Green Eyes, then Hysteric, followed by some others that are just as grool. If they're still vibin' tomorrow I'll add #3. Went to CRW this morning for some relieving news: revisions are die next week Wednesday, not this Friday! Thank the lord. I finished my PowerPoint and presented my curatorial project today in history. It's one of the things I'm most proud of this year, if not the thing. It came out awesome. Before so, I went a-USB huntin' at Best Buy, then at Tiger Direct-- such low prices at the latter. CyberMonday #roolz. Finally settled on a waterproof, shockproof one. Lol of course. Felt kind of sick after buying it, just because it was $25 and I'm not used to no employee discount. Anyway, Chuck and this playlist washed away some blues. Still no response from the dean or from Rachelle on my letters of reccomendation... Must finish the résumé, cover letter, 3 recs, PLUS the Panther Promotions paperwork by tomorrow, and all of this shizz for school. It's bucketing on me, and I can't keep putting shit off. Need to finish at least half my paper tomorrow, along with the film logs (or most of them) and the Panther P stuff. I must. Goodnight, nobody. Peace.

Hands
by The Ting Tings
&
Green Eyes
by Wavves

I bought the new Ting Tings' 7" at Uncle Sam's yesterday and listened to it when I got home, which was technically this morning. I heard it again later on today after introducing my family to their freak-pop. They liked it! Green Eyes because I've been listening to it all day, thinking about it since I mentioned Wavves to Jewash yesterday. I spent the day watching movies at home when I couldn've been doing productive things like oh, say, my final papers. On the lineup was The Losers, which my dad liked so much he called my grandfather to come over and see in Spanish RIGHT AFTER it ended, then The Man from Earth followed by a very long nap. The life! Woke up after midnight to watch Ed Burns' She's the One, which was ok. It made me think about music and provided me with another entry for my film log, if anything. I'll probably feature the former on here tomorrow. Dawle.

Secrets
by OneRepublic

Today felt like Sunday. Maybe it's because I've been working for two days, or maybe it's because I've been so caught up with deadlines I've developed a paranoid subconscious. I think I have less time than I actually do. Thank god tomorrow's Sunday, because I have tons of stuff to get done. Today work was from 8-5, less busy than yesterday. Free Chinese food. Blueberry donut. Afterwards there was a reunion at Itota's house, with literally everyone except Tom Hagan. Went to the beach finally and bought my black Friday stuff-- a Ting Tings 7" single with a passion pit remix on the B-side. Also scored an April 2010 Caribou album. Hung out with Jewash and saw 127 Hours at Sunset. Jeez Louise. Cetus lupedus. Ouch.
Oh! And my Jeffster stuff came in today! Excited! Took me about two hours to tear the packaging out of how much excitement there was.

Sanguibidi!!! First time in 18 years that we do Thanksgiving at home. Ate great food, enjoyed good company, and didn't break my three-year streak of watching "The One With All the Thanksgivings" and "The One With Ross's Sandwich" late at night when every was gone.

Crazy For You
by Adele

A forgotten song for a forgotten feeling. I can't believe it's back. They're back. They're finally back.
In other news, dentist for hours, school for embarassment and unfinished work (worked some more on my presentation but didn't een get to start my essay!), heart-to-heart with Ruth, best Chuckday ever. It's a mix of Sarah, Adele, and the past few days that've brought it back.

by Devendra Banhart

Museum day! Got up pretty late, missed Dave Barry D:
Took Mileini to the book fair and then went off to the Wolfsonian to finish some project work! Doubled back to the fair at 4 and in the midst of some strange run-ins, a hot dog crépe, and a useless info booth volunteer, helped Mileini find an autographed spanish book (two birds, one stone) bought a cool book and laughed at eachother the entire afternoon.

by Bob Dylan

Yeah, worked on my story some more, went on a Dylan craze. Watched the first third of I'm Not There before leaving to pick Jessie up from school unnecessarily. This is a great song, and it helped me write some.. It's garbage, but it's something. Going to finish writing tomorrow morning! Wish me luck.

ONE HUNDRED EIGHTY-TWO

Today all I did was work on my short story for creative writing, which was due at 3 and I still haven't finished. Today wasn't defined by any one song, but by the collection of songs that helped me write. Here they are, playlisted. And for the sake of the blog, I picked one in particular for today's, that's different from the ones on the list. Enjoy 'em. I know I do.

THE DAY'S PLAYLIST #1
1. Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
2. Lust for Life by Iggy Pop
3. Don't Look Back In Anger by Oasis
4. Father And Son by Cat Stevens

Fuck You
by Cee Lo Green

In CRW asked for extension on setting assignment, short story tbd this weekend, still have to do some stuff for Luca and for Film class, and need to get a move on it. Made some pretty concrete decisions about our future that'll certainly stir up our family dynamic. It's going to be tough-- life-changing, even-- but if we're strong enough we'll get through it. Cut to Madrina's going away party tonight at Dave & Buster's, where I hung out with Tia, Xime, and Mads, and met some people. Saw Ruth hard at work at Marshalls, hehe. Bought Dogma on DVD, $3.99, bitches! Came home to everyone cranky and sleepy, and peleando. Saw the convocation ceremony online and freaked. Found out that neither my father nor my sister cares about my accomplishments when they're any given of the aforementioned sentiments. Vicky asked me for another credit loan and got cranky and abrasive when I offered her a practical solution. Thank you, friendship! :D Got Cee Lo's new album, and what I've heard of it is pretty good. I'd heard their BoH cover and liked it from the beginning. Fuck You and Glee's take on it are today's favorite. Thank you, Cee Lo. Garage sale tomorrow! Daleee! Nite. :D

Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa
by Vampire Weekend

My emotions had a field day today-- after thinking it was 11 when it was 12 amd getting to school only to realize class had already started and ended (thank you, Ben Franklin), I went from ridiculously sobbing at the series finale of Six Feet Under to researching for my cases at the Wolf. Day's tone was set by a genius on Blood Bank, and by Vamp Weekend's debut album, which I'm arguing is genius. Headed to Uncle Sam to reserve Florence, and then back to civilization for class with Luca. Talked about Three New Deals and lmao'd at Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator. I've never laughed harder at a film in bee and dub. Lol it's a new favorite, and for y'all, a new must-see. Remember, thou art mortal! Keep Calm and Carry On, and live and love as much and as often as you possibly can. It's what we're here to do. Also, visit the Wolfsonian. :>

Lost some chancletas and got made fun of for sporting Jessie's old high school musical umbrella. Damn kids! Haha
Worked on the Special Allocations funds paperwork! Finally got the damn invoice from TRAC after significant haggling. Listened to DeYarmond Edison throughout the day, esp. in the car on the way to Jessie and to and from work, which I left at midnight working on a stupid accessory sled. It was pretty epic.
