Gone Daddy Gone
by Gnarls Barkley

Class was cancelled but I had a 10:30 appt at the Doctor's. Went in to get an ok for vloodwork. Yes, vlood... Bahaha!
Went to Diaz el Contador's house to pick up my W2s (I know), and then went *back* to the FIU to file my fafsa with some help in the computer lab. Left and came home to eat, watch Ellen, and go to work for like 3 hours. It took me *agonizingly* long to get there, being late on top of what I was late already. Got my MIFF phone, and found out the movies I'll be Q&Aing! Took most home to watch over the weekend. At 6:40 I left for government center on my bike, and met Jean there a little later for critical mass. It was awesome, and only tiring for like 5 minutes halfway through. Endurance, baby!! Jean's still cool beans as always, except he wants to see Sanctum.. Ouch. Lol
Came home and ate Sarussi, and talked to Jaif, and deleted all my shiz from the DVR. Booya! Bed at midnight, work at 9.

The Seaweed Song
by Passion Pit

Someone complimented me on my taste in music today? That wasn't strange.. nah.
This morning I went to school in preparation for Marat and Hebert's trial, and for the map quiz. Well, the map quiz was postponed and the fugitives escaped with half the assembly. WHAT.... THE.... Did that seriously just happen? Is this seriously happening? I just thought of Michael Clayton.

Alright, I just bought Michael Clayton. Where was I?

Right. Crazy Assembly meeting today, followed by the MIFF pit event. Gave absolutely everything away. All of it's gone, and we got some sign-ups to volunteer at the festival. Cool! Took the film guides and Reel Seminar pamphlets I set aside to UM, and presented in front of an actual film class. In a studio! I'd go to school there, legit. I said 'legit' a lot today... Met Lisa Gottlieb, who was the nicest lady. Came home, thought about schools and Fafsa, and went out again, to Pads' house. B-day cake and food and shiz, and then came home after seeing my long lost family. They tried to win me out in the movie game, but could not. Alas, a certain bald cineast could not. At home, watched White Collar with the fams and American Idol (?), and had a heart to heart with a french region.

Little Secrets
by Passion Pit

Woke up to work on my Urban Ecology paper, take a shower, and go to work. There I worked on the Skedge the whole day, taking an early break to unload and store away 200,000 cases of Stella Artois. Skedgework, Danette's Birthday, Skedgework, vegan cake, etc. Completely forgot about a meeting I was supposed to be in at UM, and had to set up an impromptu outreach proposal for tomorrow after the pit event.
Got home to eat, and left for faction meeting at FIU with our new order. King joined in, skedged the assembly for tomorrow, and went home with Mileini to have a depressing moment. It was one of those times where we both talk about shit we don't want to talk about, and then we realize that we may actually be better friends than we thought. Dark chocolate coffee and some kind of Frankenstein's monster iced tea was what appealed to us at Walgreen's on the way home. Separate ways at around 12:30-- France map quiz tomorrow, among other bullshit.

by The Cranberries

Work today, worked on the Master Skedge and on the Outreach skedges. Went to Doral to pick up some boxes with Tom and Billy. Talked about Czech and Cornell and working in print traffic. Coming up, I'm going to be learning about 35mm and everything that has to do with HD cam setup. Excitement! Talked to Jaif, providing, along with a Bourdain marathon, a distraction from temp solace. Left for the house at around 8, got home to eat and watch a documentary on SNL. After watching Studio 60 it makes so much sense. I *get* Lorn Michaels now, though I think he should be a funnier person. Realized it was Monday and quickly got into reacting, getting my region into some trouble. Boycotts, riots and Kings, oh my!

Fables
by The Dodos

Woke up at around 10, went to pick up Mileini to hit the CG Arts Festival. Got to her house at about 12:30, then drove to Weitz's house and walked to the festival. Did a quick look-around and then met up with Jaife @ the secret. Chilled and walked around until 3, at which point Jaif got out and we went to do the full festival tour. Fooled the guards with a fake stamp and got in for free. Whatuup
After about 2 hours, we went to eat at Pasha's and then checked for clerkster at the B&N. Dropped off at Weitz's at around 6:30, and spent the rest of the evening mingling with oldies and newbies to Study Abroad. Met Jarmilla and had a good time with evs at the house. Came home at around 10:30 to update The Sound. Note to self: Always jot down what you did on a given day. Two days later, YOU WILL FORGET.

Foot Shooter
by Frightened Rabbit

Woke up humming this, oddly-- and it became an anthem, almost.
Disastrous assembly meeting today, reassuring the creepy ominous feeling I've been getting from that class... It creeps me out. Walked to UTS with Mileini, got in the death trap and drove to my car, and went home. Drove the '66 around the block and then got in Arch and returned Kurosawa to Adrian, along with much needed soy sauce packets. Four of them. Lol, left Espinosa's and stopped by Aida's to say hi to the peeps, then got home to finish watching Studio 60. Finished at 12:12. Five stars. Five. And Foot Shooter is still stuck in my head. by The Ramones

My sister woke me up blasting a lame Boyfriend song, which I responded to by brushing my teeth and showing her some actual good ones that are virtually the same, but based on my interest in them, are obviously superior. I tell myself every day the only thing Michael Ian Black ever taught me... or was it Fleet Foxes? Life gets much better when you realize you have horrible taste in music. I've started living by that credo.

Anyway, today we went to Naples for Albert's 19th B-Day. Ate fantastic food, met great people, and had a fun time. I never want to leave!

by The Black Keys

Missed class and explained to Sandy I'm not a flake. Worked today, making copies, eating lunch and getting massages, basking in last night's glory. It's good to be the intern. Went home at 4:30, traffic got me there at around 6, at which point my family left to see the Biebs in my car. They dropped me off at Itita's, where I saw some eps of Studio 60 and ate pasta salad (?) until about half past eight, when Itito and I left for the Tower, Ibero copies in hand. I met Orlando, the Tower director, gave him the first half of the Iberos and went in to see True Grit with Spanish subs. The film was seriously boss.

by Little Eva

Tuesday in the Assembly. We discussed a few topics that don't particularly com to mind now, five days later. All I remember about today is walking out of class with Mileini, telling her that this song was stuck in my head. And it was-- the whole day!I broke the news to her, and it turns out Jaife had already spread it around. Borrowed a mac adapter from UTS... class cancelled in the AM because of a group project meeting I didn't go to. That's about all the scraps of information I can pin down for today.. Hopefully I'll keep up with this in the future.

This Guy's in Love
by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass

Woke up late and missed class. I'm trying for this not to become routine. Showered and went to work, getting there at around 1. Got to working on the new Education Outreach Grid and met with our new volunteer coordinator. Dig is crazy! Told Annie about Friday's moonless evening at Deering, and made sure to lay on the thanks. Kept making the Press and Industry screeners, and tried ripping my first DVD-- it was The Lady Vanishes, and it worked. The problem: I can't edit it. Final Cut won't touch it, and I'm pissed. Today I found out that Roberto is a bastion of delicious snacks (Reese's pieces and banana chips ftw)! I hardly saw Vivian-- I think she was in meetings or abducted or something. O. Welles.

Today was a pretty big music day... I'm recovering =\ Drove to work with The Free Design, got to work and played a David Lynch/Pirate Radio playlist, and went home to watch Empire Records, which has some pretty good tracks when you push through the two hours of noise rock. Laura Jane was stuck in my head afterwards, until remembering that Alpert took the day. It was nuts.

Melt My Heart to Stone
by Adele

Woke up to my heart shattering into a thousand pieces
Was 15 minutes late to work and got written up for it. I came home and felt useless, so I took a bath and another shower, listening to Adele, Nico, and Los Panchos.
It's amazing how quickly connotations change. This is what I've been afraid of for two years. This is why. Fuck it. I watched the cheesy doc My Date with Drew, and then did myself a huge favor and put on the bootleg edition of Almost Famous I bought myself earlier for $13. It's the best gift I've gotten myself since my computer, and maybe even better.
Pick yourself up and move on. It's all happening.

Little Faith
by The National

This morning, before going to sleep at around 3 I stayed up getting tons of new music and sorting out some papers for reacting. Got up at around 8:30 and get to 9:30 class right on time, with the dreams book I needed to take the quiz. Booya! Afterwards, I picked up the VGA from UTS and checked Metropolis out of the Film Library. Went to reacting, which was pretty great! It was the most calm and rational assembly meeting we've ever had. And I'm still alive, which is good. Went back to UTS to return the cable, and back to DM to see Weitz. Took Everything Is Illuminated from the Film Library, and spent almost an hour talking to Weitz and students about films, then about Czech and Festivals. Sundance cap! Came home, ate breakfast on the way, and didn't really know what to do with myself at that point. I ended up sleeping on the couch for like 3 hours, waking up and eating dinner. Exercise win!

It's the 3rd of February and I just realized I've watched a film with Philip Seymour Hoffman in it every day this month (so far)... The first was Charlie Wilson's War, the next Pirate Radio, and now Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, which is a seriously fucked-up movie experience. I wonder how long I can keep this up-- maybe I'll watch the Savages tomorrow, or something of the sort. And at the end of the month I'll get myself Almost Famous, which just came out on bd.

Today was kind of like that scene in the Holiday when she wakes up to Jet, and then Jasper calls to send her the pages. A combination of the not eating, the sleeping, and the movie made my mood all The National-y. Until 3 it was really more like Strings by Young the Giant, but it's too much of a summer song for February

P.S. There are still holiday cookies in my freezer. How, God, is this supposed to help? haha ah, holiday cookies... How I love thee.

Up In the Clouds
by Darwin Deez

Went to class this mo' for a bike presentation in Urban Ecology, then got on my bike and came home. Chucked for 40 minutes, ate breakfast at around 12, and after running some errands, informed work that I was falling asleep everywhere and that I couldn't go. I proceeded to ktfo and wake up at around 6:30. We ate dinner (in the form of seriously delicious salmon sandwiches. It was avocadoey, tomatoey, special saucey, sourdoughey heaven). When I woke up, I had all this music from Pandora earlier stuck in my head, and after watching Pirate Radio (which was FAN-TASTIC!) I proceeded to work on reacting and get a bunch of music together. Got hungry and went to the kitchen to eat leftover chinese and finish watching About Last Night. Thank God Ed Zwick got over his 80s movie montage phase. There were like 7 pop ballads in that movie! Unnecessary. Good night, y'all!

P.S. Isn't this the strangest looking dude you've ever seen? And coming from me, that's a big thing to say.. I think Devendra Banhart looks perfectly normal.

Sway

Got some salad with Mileini, had a fun time talking about class and reading my very inventive paper. Salad! After that, we got in the death trap and she dropped me off at cycles. Rode to the car, one hand front brakes, one hand salad (a very dangerous combination). Went to get the tires checked and passed by Itito's. Chilled some, got schooled on not eating meat for lunch, and then came home to watch Charlie Wilson and transcribe poetry. Sleeping now, at 10. I will accept the following names: dweeb/scootch/lame-o. Good night, and good luck.
