SONG OF THE DAY #72
Thursday, July 29th, 2010
Mama Kiyelele
by Ricardo Lemvo & Makina Loca
I wasn't about to pick another Yorn/Johansson track, even though I was close. I've been trying to pick a song for today that represents my dad's personality, the way he makes us feel, and the day we had: baked some peach crack cake and spent the rest of the day together, as a family.
Te Queremos, Pops
¡felicidades!

Brackett, WI
by Bon Iver
This band is genius. I bought For Emma, Forever Ago tonight and heard the whole thing when I got home. It's perfect. Tom Hagan, I consider you a man of honorable principles when it comes to music; I think you'd be proud of my nostalgic tendencies.

1999
by Shout Out Louds
Woke up feeling like this song.
So I've been listening to Shout a few days in a row. Big deal. So what? Who cares? Shoulder shrug
Picked classes some more, then worked with Pedro, Helen, & Eddie and bought me some Shaun of the Dead and Abbey Road (read the following in a high pitch)...
score!
P.S. This Shout Out Louds album has serious potential. It could be the next Break Up, which was of course the new 19.
New developments on this matter still to come. -R

Show Me Something New
by Shout Out Louds
Picking Fall and Spring classes is a bitch when half the classes you want to take aren't offered. Joy. Visited A&M and snagged some books: Serenity Better Days, volumes 1 & 2, (which turned out to be less than epic) and Ian Fleming's You Only Live Twice-- the best Bond movie-- in novel form (the epicness of which remains to be seen).
Wish me luck with this crap. And to you, enjoy the Great Shout Out Louds.

I Don't Know What to Do
by Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson
This was today's car song. Shouted it on the way to A&M and back, and so I'm featuring it as a Bonus Track. It's a good'un, to say the least.

Rich Girls
by The Virgins
Got my car back today and hung out with Melanie in Miami Beach
It was one of the most embarassing times in my life. I left some paint on a parked car.
A PARKED car.
...Parked.
She thought it was ok. When I got home, my father did not. Lol

Sweet Disposition
by The Temper Trap
This is a good song for change.. And things are changing. A friend of mine just quit the Buy, and I spent the rest of my evening watching (and searching for) Paris Je T'Aime and City Island*. They're both great.
In other news, they started playing this song at work the other day... Considering that all they normally have on is some kind of Ultra mix, this was a complete surprise. Needless to say, it sparked my memory and came in handy.
*to the one who's job is designing a title sequence for this film, you're either a moron or a complete genius.
