ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-THREE

SONG OF THE DAY #173
Monday, November 8th, 2010
Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa
by Vampire Weekend

My emotions had a field day today-- after thinking it was 11 when it was 12 amd getting to school only to realize class had already started and ended (thank you, Ben Franklin), I went from ridiculously sobbing at the series finale of Six Feet Under to researching for my cases at the Wolf. Day's tone was set by a genius on Blood Bank, and by Vamp Weekend's debut album, which I'm arguing is genius. Headed to Uncle Sam to reserve Florence, and then back to civilization for class with Luca. Talked about Three New Deals and lmao'd at Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator. I've never laughed harder at a film in bee and dub. Lol it's a new favorite, and for y'all, a new must-see. Remember, thou art mortal! Keep Calm and Carry On, and live and love as much and as often as you possibly can. It's what we're here to do. Also, visit the Wolfsonian. :>

A-Punk
by Vampire Weekend

This is an elegy. I spent all day tracking down the tickets, and they were nowhere to be found. Went to class early, finished workshops and poetry altogether, then to Panther Promotions. I eventually gave up the ticket hunt, and spent the day with Jose and Anaís, and our new Gaming Correspondent, Jewash. Lol
I discovered I'm a Ravenclaw, got some event tickets, and outran the rain, literally making it to the car seconds before the downpour. Arch didn't die today! So I went back to FIU at 6 for the exhibit opening at the Frost. It was great.

I Think Ur A Contra
by Vampire Weekend

At some point between midnight and the time I fell asleep before getting up to start the day, I wrote my place poem, and it seemed unfinished for some reason.
After school and everything with it: Pyron's lecture on classical Greece, making the panther promo banner, and jokes in Film with Mileini, I came home, stared at something for a while, and had a conversation. An actual conversation.

P.S. I think she's a contra.

Giving Up The Gun
by Vampire Weekend

I woke up thinking of this song and it works for today: it was my first day in Bailly and Davies' class, and in History of Film. Looking back, even though I listened to Bon Iver the entire day (like most days recently), biked around aimlessly and found a secret spot on campus, today's tone I think is set by Vampire Weekend. It was a day of firsts, and it called for something a little more up-tempo.
