THREE HUNDRED FIFTY-EIGHT

SONG OF THE DAY #358
Wednesday May 11, 2011
Noon Tune
De Nada Sirve Hablar
por Alejandro Fernández

Evening Tune
Que Será
by Wax Tailor

It was a late morning. Maybe around 12 or 1 was when I finally rolled out of bed. I decided to fumble over to the kitchen to fix some grub, and then get to watching School of Rock. Picked up my sister 15 minutes late, and got her incredibly pissed at me in the car, asking incessant yet legitimately concerned questions. Came home, made a couple of grilled cheeses, and finished watching School of Rock as she slept. Pretended to work on the video while goofing off with music. The musicworks continued until that evening, at which point Pops called me over to watch Glee and American Idol. I ate dinner and continued with my musical nonsense, until late. When everyone went to sleep, I watched 2 Days in Paris by Julie Deply, and realized I've been watching really fantastic movies lately... I think I'm going through a renaissance. And, I love summers. Oh, also, I'm broker than a Sudanese woman pregnant with her sixth child. But everything will be fine! Will soon finish the birthday video.

Today was the first day of school. I went to "Urban Ecology," which looks like I'm going to have to milk the interest out of. It has potential. Took a breakfast break to eat breakfast with Tiff and Mateo, and then headed back to the library to read up on Vendée, which I'm still not done with.
It's eleven pm.
After that I had my one o'clock class, Language and Culture, which I think is going to be great! Unfortunately I might have to drop it, to avoid heart attacks. Working at MIFF and having four classes is not the easiest thing to do. Especially when there's reading involved. Lots of reading. Went over to MIFF as soon as I could, and found out we made deadline on film stills! It was awesome. Today they made the final (fingers crossed) changes to scheduling. Finished inputting the checklists we have, only leaving about seven out of the picture. Things are progressing. Planning on reworking some bios tomorrow, after Honors. Before that I have to find a slot to study for Vendée, and sometime during the day I'll talk to Professor Weitz and finally ask her about the trip and the internship credits. I need this done bu Friday. Friday, people!
After getting out of work I headed to Sunset for a screening of The Green Hornet, which I didn't make it to. I ended up buying a ticket for The Fighter, which was great. Kira, I get you. The experience is underrated. Came straight home. Did not go to five guys. Did not pass Go. Did not collect $200.

Got up today to work from 9 in the morning to 3, then went home expecting to go watch Tron Legacy with Elena at night. These plans were obviously far fetched, since Elena got sick and couldn't go. Partied it up with Mileini! Whatup! I'm sorry to say that Tron, though, was a bit of a disappointment. Met up with Jaife afterwards for coffee and gab. Caveat: Do NOT try the apple thing at Starbucks. Blech!

For your reading pleasure and for my own future reference, the following is me watching Tron: Legacy.

(Giddy as a schoolboy) It's starting!!
This score is amazing!
Jeff Bridges looks weird.
There was a reason I hated The Polar Express.
This movie is going to be awesome.
Haha he drives a motorcycle! I wonder what that's setting up for... giggle
NO WHEYSSS! the immersion sequence was fantastic!
Omg. OMG!!!
An hour and a half later.
There is no need for Michael Sheen's character. Rephrase that: there is no need for Michael Sheen.
Srsly?
Tron?! Tron is alive?
Tron is bad? This blows.
LIGHT JETS?! WTF?! Cool?
Tron... why are you?? Pause. Gasp. Nooo!!! :(
There was no need for this.
Flynn is a Jedi!?
Flynn is God?
Is Sam Jesus?
Wait, what the... Noooooo!!!
Nice homage - er, I mean RIP-OFF! - of the Tron pose.
(Whining) Ehhhehh... why??
(walking down the theater steps)
I don't know how I feel about this.
(in the theater lobby)
Ehh, it was just ok.
(at Starbucks)
Too bad it sucked.

TWO HUNDRED FIFTEEN

Age of Consent
by New Order

Got up early today (hah!) and went to Megan's for the shepherds' orientation. Tomorrow's the first day of winter camp, bright and early, in seven hours. I went to Best Buy today to solve my phone problem, got the EVO from Sprint and a contract I have 30 days to back out of, which will likely happen. I could probably make do with this, but if I can keep the iPhone without having to make an extra investment, I will take the opportunity. So now I have a new number which three people know, I have a contact list that is very empty, and I'm looking at the abyss that is personalizing a new phone. I imagine breaking in a new device hurts more than sporting new heels (or something). It's just painstaking, is all. By the way, this is coming from my new open item MacBook Pro, which was an opportunity that does not come often. Scored this baby today (!), but with it I found I'm an incredibly nostalgic person. The prospect of leaving my bulky, battery-barren HP behind is shudderful. Yes, shudderful. What's that? Not a word, you say? Naysayers, Cee Lo Green has a new song I'd like to dedicate to you. Yes, though, my old laptop is trusty and great, and on many levels I think it's too early for an upgrade. Ol' Remy has some good years left in him, and without living to its natural span, it's becoming closet material. I love you, buddy. This one's for you. Thanks for being there for me when I needed you; I'll never forget your great reign.

Today was also comprised of the aforementioned harsh labor that comes with new tech, and with watching my mom bake for tomorrow and my sister trying to escape said baking. Several times. We had some good convoes today, like we do. It was a good'un, filled with reunions of all kinds (Carlos!) and with some awesome sidebars.
